Most architects get little or no training about horticulture. Their experience would be most valuable to the profession. I wonder if either or both of them are considering a career in architecture. Incidentally, if you are wondering about their use of the Miesian "Less is more" as a page title, they probably have heard a lot of this jargon their father is an architect. Grant and Max Buster did a very good job of presenting the "simple SIP" design on their website. We created even some clear instructions, with the Ikea design:Ĭontinue reading "Italy » Guerrilla Gardening at IKEA" » It was a success and we all are looking forward to repeat this experience. Via Ikea found this technique so interesting that they organized with us a first beautiful workshop for 15 families, offering one “Snalis” container full of plants to each family.Įverybody was involved in setting the container and planting tomatoes, zucchini, lettuces, eggplants. They are but a hollow shell of what they were back in the '70's and 80's. The IKEA catalog is just one mirror of the declining health of both the houseplant and interior plantscaping businesses in America. The catalog contains little or nothing about products for modern urban greenscaping. It speaks volumes about the state of the indoor plant business. Coincidentally, I just received the 2012 IKEA catalog. I am going to borrow Giacomo's idea and pitch it to the store manager of the Red Hook, Brooklyn IKEA. Visit his website have a look at his videos and you will see many expamples of a mind that thinks out of the box.except when the box is producing fresh food. Guerilla gardening is just one of his creative ventures. I only wish that he were here in New York. If so, he is one of the most cultured and creative counter-culturists I know of. Giacomo Salizzoni is an Italian architect who calls himself a guerrilla gardener.
